If the Federal Government can't get their shit together by Wednesday, I'm not going to get any more Unemployment benefits, right?

But even if they can't pay me, I still have to pay my landlord, right?

Huh. Well this is going to be interesting...

Unemployment checks come from our individual states, although the funding is subsidized by the feds. Hard to say. Read http://www.washingtonpost.com/business/economy/banks-preparing-in-case-of-goverment-shutdown/2011/07/29/gIQAsmSzhI_story.html?tid=sm_twitter_washingtonpost

If you are getting regular unemp benefits, likely no effect, as they are state-funded.
If you are getting "extended" benefits (ie beyond the 26 weeks that used to be standard) that is fed-subsidized and would likely be suspended if the ceiling should fail to be fixed by Tuesday.

Good luck.
