The "move coordinator" just called to tell me that the guys will be here tomorrow between 9:00 am and 11:00 am.

"What happens if I'm not totally packed yet?" I asked (for reference: yesterday's video).

"You have to be totally packed," she replied.

"Well, I'm working on it, but I may not be completely done."

"Well, you can keep packing when they're there," she said.

"There's nothing else I can do?" I asked.

"You have to be totally packed," she replied.

Seriously? This national moving company has never encountered a person who couldn't get shit done it time before? They don't bring boxes and tape and stuff? Are you kidding me?

furious_mold is on her way over to help. This is awesome, as I was afraid I wouldn't get to see her again before I left. But seriously: professional movers won't do any packing? Really?!?

Packers and movers are different.

Take a deep breath, and keep on packing.

Anything that doesn't get packed? Throw it out!

Like the above person said, if you paid for packing then they will. If you just paid for moving, they won't. However, I believe that they will probably help you with last minute things if need be.

Since I've moved several times in the last few years, granted it was only across town, but here is what I did: I got all the breakable/valuable stuff wrapped/packed, and then the less important, non-breakable stuff I just kind of stuffed in boxes. The stuff I needed until the end I just stuffed into trash bags and hauled them with me at the last minute. I'm betting the movers with help you with that.

you could hire some packing labor from craigslist.

Have you made any more progress since I left?

Did you eat something?!!!

You can always throw stuff into boxes at the last minute. Mark those boxes, "Shit I threw in here at the last minute". LOL.

If you haven't seen a lot of that stuff in years, it probably means you're not going to need it as soon as you get to NY. Don't worry about it. Remember, bulk pick up is tomorrow and you can throw stuff away. I don't think it would be too awful if some of that stuff doesn't get recycled or sent to Goodwill. This is a big move. I wouldn't feel guilty throwing things away.
