Too Much Input.

My computer died. Spyware and malware and trojans -- oh my! It was one of those last straw moments -- I just couldn't handle anything else.

I tried to call n0thingman. I left what I'm certain was a hysterical message. Then I gave up and went to Staples.

And cried.

The man at Staples -- a nice man, a tattooed man -- was just talking, saying what they were going to do, and what could happen. He started talking about data recovery and the possibility that I could lose my data and I just started crying. I could tell he felt really bad, and I really didn't want to make a scene, but it was one of those things where once the horse was out of the barn, she was gone.

Now I'm at work. I needed to have something to do.

Hopefully I'll get my computer back tomorrow. It's going to be very hard to not be able to come online and look to you guys for support and reassurance.

That sucks. I probably would have reacted the same way - and I'm not ashamed to admit that I value the connections I have with friends online. The days of the "lonely internet nerd" are over, social connections are important - any way you can get them. Most people I communicate with know me outside of the internet, but we live in different cities. Being able to touch base with them here on LJ, or through email is just as important to me as having a social life outside of the house.

Hang in there. We'll still be here when you are online again.
