Bad News: I'm not one of them (hence the quotes around "all staff"). For whatever reason, rather than close the store so that all staff could actually participate, they opted instead to go with a skeleton crew. Most departments asked for volunteers; ours did not ("ours" being grocery plus; none of this is Dan's fault). Miriam reminded me today that the picnic is tomorrow, I gave a glance at next week's schedule, and -- yep -- tomorrow I'm scheduled to work 3:00 - 9:00.
I called Dan. He was as stunned as I was. With Mark gone, Rob makes the schedule now. I asked Jim, our interim department manager, but he said what Dan and I expected he would: Ask Rob. So, long story short, it looks like I'll be missing the picnic.
Good News Again: Those of use who volunteered and/or got stuck working during the picnic will be getting paid time and a half for those hours. And, with about $40 available to me until next pay day, this is a Very Good Thing.
