Just returned home from several neighborhoods. What I saw:
Squirrel Hill: Happy people at the corner of Forbes and Murray, with a smaller cluster at Forbes and Shady. No destruction that I saw.
Bloomfield: The streets were (mostly) cleared by the time I passed through, but there appeared to be remnants of a burned couch (smashed and charred wood, a lone cushion) on Liberty near the Italian grocery.
Oakland: Oh, Oakland. There were dumpsters in the middle of the street near the law school. They were burning and burned for a long time, until a fire truck finally arrived and put out the fire. The obnoxious chicks up in the towers were dumping water out of their windows on the crowd, and doing this pretty steadily. But the worst (IMHO) things that I saw were the bus stop at Hillman Library, completely destroyed -- flattened to the ground -- and several windows at Hillman Library (along Forbes Avenue) smashed, with faux-anarchist graffiti ("riot," etc.) spray painted on the wall. Want to smash the state? A fucking LIBRARY is not the place to start. Douchebags. :(
I shot much footage and will be working to upload it to my personal LJ in the next 24 hours or so.
