I have a sinking suspicion that precious few media outlets will cover this story, but apparently The Supreme Court just turned down an appeal from the ACLU to let it pursue a lawsuit against warrantless wiretapping.

So fuck you, Fourth Amendment!

Bloody hell.

Well, of course they can't prove their conversations were monitored. It's super secret.

Bloody hell.

Not really...
...it was turned down because of a standing issue - the ACLU couldn't prove it was itself harmed by the wiretapping. (How would the ACLU know? Good question....and there's a conundrum - if everyone's wiretapped, then who's hurt, and does anyone have standing over everyone else?)

Something like this is the Supreme Court not wanting to review an issue, and isn't precedent.

What Rights?
We gave up our Constitutional rights in November 2000 when Dubya got selected. The so-called "Patriot Act" was introduced, amended, passed and signed into law in a record four days the following October. We should change our slogan from "America the Beautiful" to "America the Sheepiful" (sic)
