Last night was Joel's holiday party. I spent it talking to one attractive, fascinating man after another. And time and time again, after I was thoroughly engaged in the conversation and allowing my mind to wander, he would drop the "we" bomb -- "Oh, my wife loves that," or "Yea -- my partner was just saying the same thing" -- UGH!
Yes, yes, I know -- we can always use more friends, blah blah blah. But it's the highs and lows -- the emotional roller coaster of "possibility!" followed by "oh crap." I just can't take it.
So from now on if you're married, or shacked up, or maybe just dating -- I don't care. You are no longer allowed out of the house without your wife/girlfriend/skank by your side. Capeesh?
And as a random aside, my veterinarian was also at the party. She saw me, squealed, came over and gave me a big hug, and then looked at my face and said "You don't know who I am, do you?" I did not. But then she explained that she was my vet and I totally knew who she was, only I realized that I know her as "Dr. [lastname]," but still don't actually know what her first name is. Oh well. She loves Jacob and that's all that matters.
