Lifted from badrahessa

I know very little about some of the people on my friends list. Some people I know relatively well. (Some I know too well - ha!) I read your journals, or we have something else in common and we chat occasionally. Some of you I hardly know at all. Perhaps you lurk, for whatever reason. But you friended me and I thank you for your interest in my words.

But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. Any old thing at all. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's so and so...they listen in rapture to the love-music of mud-bears." (Think of it as your Yule present to me.)

I'd love it if every single person who friended me would do this. Yes, even you people who I know really well. Then post this in your own journal and see what gems of knowledge appear.

My name is Sarah, and I am currently a graduate student at SUNY Binghamton, trying desperately to finish writing my thesis so that I can start trying to find a real job. I have gone from studying psychology (at IUP!) in my undergrad to biological/biomedical anthropology: mostly public health and epidemiology. I really like applied work, and I’m doing my thesis on obesity and physical fitness in a local middle school. I have learned a ton in the last few years, but my education has overworked me and stressed me out more than anything. I’ve got a significant other named Jeremy that I’ve been living with for the last year and a half, and he’s awesome. He’s been really helpful during this insanity.

I have spent so much time at the computer writing papers and doing research that I’ve gone from spending tons of free time on AIM and Livejournal to avoiding it like the plague. My shoulders and neck are having some pretty serious problems as a result of spending too much time sitting at a computer. I still kill time occasionally reading your Livejournal entries, or exploring profiles on MySpace, but I don’t type as often as I used to. It’s mostly because of computer-related pain, not for lack of wanting to connect with friends.

I met you through one of my best college friends, Mikey, who I REALLY miss, but don’t often have the opportunity to see or talk to. I wish he would travel to see me, rather than me just driving the 5+ hours to Pittsburgh to see him. I miss all of the Pittsburgh crew.

I always appreciated that you were taking tons of awesome pictures during times where I was having too much fun to bother carrying a camera. When I think of you, I think of that, and you coming to a rave at a roller rink ACTUALLY wearing roller skates. That and Billy Bragg.

I still love dancing, and do it every chance I get. I’ve also recently started drawing again, which I had a bit of a hiatus from because of school. I’ve got a pretty cool website that will be updated soon (no, I didn’t make it, I traded a drawing for it!), at: www.freewebs.com/sarahkwalker

I’ve also recently joined the local pagan community, and I feel right at home with them. I love it. Happy Yule!

Hey Sarah? Where are you? I sent you an email on Facebook but I don't really know how to contact you anymore... phone number or whatnot? We need to get to Pittsburgh, or something... I have some Expedia.com hotel coupons that could be useable if that helps anyone... ;)
