Sprout Meets Puberty.

As I mentioned in a previous post, I ordered a few birthday presents online for Sprout. One of them was a book I'd been wanting to turn him on to for quite some time now: Michael Pollan's The Botany of Desire.

That is not what I received.

Care to guess what they sent to me? I'll give you a hint: it's also all about growing.

And the wildly inappropriate winner is:

The Care & Keeping of You: The Body Book for Girls.

I briefly toyed with the notion of giving it to him as a gag gift but ultimately decided that nah -- that was just too weird. And definitely not "weird" in a good way.

Thank you for mentioning the first book, I've just ordered a copy as it fits in perfectly with the Food History stuff that I do, and I'd not heard of it before :-)

BTW. I was serious about lending an ear if you still want one.

You may want to check out The Omnivore's Dilemma (also by Michael Pollan) as well.

I laughed my butt off when I saw this, Hope. Yes, that is wildly inappropriate! How on earth did they manage to screw up that order?? Oh the mind boggles!

"Hello. You are a man. You are 28 years old. You and I have a sexual history. Here -- have a book about preteen girls. Enjoy!"
