Judge Bubash.

I've been meaning to write this post for a week or two now, but have simply not known where to begin. With local elections looming just a few days away, I figure it's now or never.

Remember when I got arrested? Remember how thoroughly trumped up that bullshit was? Remember how completely we had all been convicted before we ever walked into the courtroom?

Yes, well, that judge is running for election on Tuesday.

I think this article sums up my opinion of things pretty neatly: "Faced with 122 potential cases, the district judge tosses individual rights out the window early and often..."

Last week, I talked with the author of that article. We discussed publicizing Catherine Bubash's history as the district judge who trashed the rights of The Pittsburgh 122. And the depressing thing that he said to me? "I fear, if anything, Pgh would elect her more readily because of her handling of the Pgh 122, rather than despite it. Alas."

So I'm still going to write a post for the pittsburgh community, even though I expect to get slammed for it. I don't give a crap. She's a bad judge who showed herself to be for sale, or perhaps simply willing to cave to political pressure, at the expense of the law and our rights. So I'm gonna do whatever I can to live up to our city's unofficial credo: Yinzers never forget.
