I'm experiencing technical difficulties.

This is going to be an odd request.

See, I'm a technological dinosaur. To that end, my answering machine just crapped out. It's an old school answering machine that uses microcassettes. So here's my request: anyone out there got an old answering machine that they never use because they no longer have a landline? Bonus points if it takes microcassettes.

I'll trade you ... well, I don't know what, but we'll come up with something. Maybe a gift certificate to The Co-op?

I actually prefer tapes -- I save them. It started in Chicago when my friend Bob died, and I realized that I still had his voice on tape on my answering machine. Now I save (and date) all my answering machine tapes. I'd like to be able to keep doing that, but I wonder if I will. Also, I love my current outgoing message (which features me being interrupted by my uber-talkative Siamese), and would love to still be able to use that same tape. I'm watching two answering machines on eBay and keeping my fingers crossed.
