I went to Unblurred, and it was just ... odd. First, I saw this guy. Many of you know that Rob looks an awful lot like this guy, Mike Johnsen, that I went to high school with. I think I saw Mike Johnsen tonight, but it really could've been Rob. And how sad is it that apparently even I can't tell the difference between the two?
I continued ambling along, and ended up in a new space. It's apparently someone's living space with a gallery area downstairs. I went in, and felt instantly uncomfortable. My friend Sonya later described the vibe from the people inside as "too cool for school," and I think that was pretty right on.
I headed back to Modern Formations. While inside, I ran into Mike, a guy that I kind of peripherally know through friends. He came over and started talking to me, and ended up saying something pretty inherently racist to me (while talking about helping to set up the show, he talked about going to the store to buy something, and how he ended up "Jewing the guy down on the price." My mouth hung open in disbelief for the entire rest of the conversation).
At that point I decided that the vibe was way too hinkey for me. I said goodbye to Corinne and Erin and headed home. When I arrived home, I turned on the TV (something I almost never do) and saw the news that the mayor had died.
This is obviously not my night. Whatever the fuck is going on out there, I'm going to bed and hoping that it's over with by morning.
