When the walls come tumbling down

Wow.

As I type this, I'm watching workers throwing the bricks of what used to be the front wall of The Library into a truck.

It's kind of odd to be watching them haul away pieces of a building that you're currently in. Then again, this is Antioch ...

The wall in question is the very front wall of the library -- the wall in the front of the stairs. Supposedly it is being rebuilt. They're keeping the same limestone slabs from the top, but the bricks are too rotted and will be given to the garden.

Worst rumor heard last night: Norment is slated for destruction. I don't know if it's true, but I really hope that it's not.

It's a good thing then that I decided to grab two bricks last night instead of just one, as what was once the wall is now a pile of rubble in the bed of an old pickup truck.

Wel, actually, now I have another brick, snatched up on my way to lunch. It sits in my room in Mills awaiting your arrival.

No one of our vintage has arrived yet, tho I saw Natalie Feinberg's nametag on the table in the fishbowl.

Mills is the same, only air-conditioned and with internet access (had I known that, I would have brought my computer. Oh well. Next year).

i sat on that wall many a time. ah...change.

the funny thing is, Connor House still stands, at least in my head/heart. i still have a sign i stole from there during one of my late-night...er...explorations after it closed. "still have"--ha. that's an understatement. it's screwed to my studio door.

I was just thinking the other night what a large role Connor House played in my decision to attend Antioch. I wonder if I would have felt so strongly about the school had I not spent so much time there as a prospective.
