Gayle's art

I'm having another night where I don't quite know what to do with myself, so I've decided to share some of Gayle's work with everyone.

The images below are more indicative of her later work; her earlier work was much more of what you would consider "traditional" textile art; weavings, wall hangings, tapestries and the like. In the late 1980s and early 1990s she got into weaving with newspaper (I believe "Journal Marking Time" is made with newspaper, though I'm not certain). By the mid-1990s she was trying her hand at silkscreening ("My Father's Handkerchiefs" -- I find it both fascinating and creepy that she used an image of her own MRI). In recent years, she's been weaving books.

Here, then, is some of her work:

"Journal Marking Time"

"My Father's Handkerchiefs"

"Stone Journal"
