When one door closes ...

Wow. Today has been a remarkably strange day.

I woke up to a giant pile of emails in my inbox. One was from Rob, basically saying that he never ever wanted to talk to me again or be friends. Two emails later, I found one from someone that I had a huge fight and falling out with about 15 years ago, and who I haven't talked to since, saying basically very kind things.

If you had told me even two weeks ago that today he would be hating me forever and she would be friendly toward me, I would have said you were nuts. I never believed either of those things were possible.

Life can change on a dime. It is so fucking weird.

OK, I tried to reply to this and it didn't work.

I don't even know what that means. What the fuck is a warning level? How do you get one and what does it mean? That I've been warned 18% of the time? I'm lost.

And now both replies show up. LJ hates me.

It's an AOL/AIM thingy to combat abuse by users. You can click "warn" somewhere on the IM window, and the "warning level" goes up. I think if you reach 100% you get banned for a short period.
It drops if you don't get warned for a period of time.

Basically, it's meaningless (except for certain people who take this internet shit way to seriously)

Weird. It must be AIM specific, because I don't see anything that says "warn" in my AOL chat window.

must be. could be a way to "control" us non-aol aim users. Still, it doesn't really mean anything except to "certain people"

Man, I wish I had that function. I get so much porn "come and look at my webcam" crap via IM ... it would be great to be able to do something when that happens other than just close the fucking chat window.
