Stolen bench

Hey all.

Apparently on Saturday night, someone stole a very old bench off of my family's porch in Squirrel Hill.

It was white metal filigree, and had been in the family for more than 50 years. It sat outside my grandparents' house when my mother was a little girl.

At any rate, I suppose I'm asking:

1. If you stole it, or know the schmuck who did, please give it back (ditto for if your friend just showed up with this cool old metal bench in his dorm room on like Sunday)

2. If you didn't steal it, do you have suggestions for anything to do? I told my Mom to maybe check those antique stores down on Butler Street in Lawrenceville, but that's about it for my ideas.

Thanks.

That sucks. I am sorry to hear that. Seems like thefts are on the rise right now.

You don't think it was just a prank? Do you think it might have been someone who would try to sell it?

Do you have any pictures of it? I would post them around town and make folks aware of it.

Hope that helps somewhat.. Good luck

My Mother was trying to think if she had any pictures of it. I'm sure there are some in her old family photos, but that would take some digging (I'll look through the handful of old family photos that I have).

My parents' porch is fairly secluded, with trees and bushes blocking it from view from the sidewalk, which is making my Mother think it was something other than random. Apparently my Dad paid some guy like $50 to do yard work recently, and that's his current "likely suspect."

Which makes me think either someone stole it to sell it, or else some punk rock kid has it up in his bedroom/dormroom ('cause it totally sounds like the type of shit my friends would do back when we were all teenagers).

Feh.

They should call the police, so that at least a report gets filed - is it worth enough to bother with an insurance claim? - and mention the likely suspect. Perhaps a visit from the jolly coppers would induce him to return it.

I put a pretty planter outside my stoop last summer. Stolen. This year's planter is chained to the house. Because people suck.

Cops called. No clue if the Likely Suspect was mentioned.

And yes, sometimes people totally suck.

Update: Likely Suspect was mentioned, but the cops said unless my parents actually saw the guy take the thing, there was nothing they could do.

That *REALLY* Bites. People have absolutely no consideration for other people's property or what it means. I feel for you. I went to the Synnagogue last Saturday since Helene's Yahrtzeit was this past week, and I locked my bike up outside. When I returned after services, someone had rifled through my rear rack pouch and stolen my pump.

People suck

That's a horrible story. What incredibly fucked up timing. Not that there's a good time to get shit stolen, but, yea, you know what I mean.
