Jewish Diversity.

I have to say, I'm really thrilled by the Jewish Diversity that happening over on this post.

Observant. Semi-Observant. Secular. Ashkenazi. Sephardi. Italian Rite. Levantine Rite. Mizrahi. And there are still several Jews on my friends list who have yet to weigh in.

It makes me really happy to see that there are so many different flavors of Jewish.

I may have to do some editing to that Wikipedia article-- the Appam rite is based on the Ashkenazic, but the Jews of Asti, despite using an Ashkenazi-esque rite, are largely of Sephardic origin.

I always feel like I should offer a "consider the source" disclaimer when citing Wikipedia.

It's interesting, because *some* of it comes from the Italian Wikipedia article, but not all. And some of it comes from another Italian Wikipedia article, which has the banner on top stating that it lacks citations and needs rewriting. I suspect someone may have done some digging with Google Translate.

Sigh. I guess I'll have to dig out some books, so I can properly cite it.
